Stop: Archaeological Zone of Monte Albán

Stop: Workshop "Tonas y Nahuales" - Angelica Jiménez Carrillo

We will enter the town of San Antonio Arrazola, recognized as the cradle of alebrixes. We will visit the workshop of Angelica Jiménez, descendant of the master Manuel Jiménez, creator of this emblematic art. In this space we will know the complete process of making alebrijes, from the size of the wood to the preparation of natural pigments used in its decoration.
Our guide will share the history of the alebrixes and the tradition of the Tones and nahuals, animal symbols linked to Zapotec identity and cosmovence. The workshop also has a gallery that exhibits pieces of different sizes, all made by the family, reflecting its talent and artisan heritage.

Stop: La Cabaña Restaurant
Location: Carri. a Cuilapam 79, 71406 Ojo de Agua, Oaxaca, Mexico
For food, we will visit a restaurant with buffet serviceideal for recharging energy and enjoying the well-known oaxaqua cuisine. The menu includes a wide variety of traditional dishes such as different types of mole, tlasidos, soups and regional stew, accompanied by proteins such as chicken, re or pig.
The restaurant also offers vegan optionswith salads, steamed vegetables and fresh vegetables.

Stop: Black Barro Workshop - Dona Rosa Studio
Location: Calle Benito Juárez No. 24, San Bartolo Coyotepec, Oaxaca, Mexico
The experience concludes with a visit to a traditional workshop in San Bartolo Coyotepec, recognized for the production of the famous black mud, a unique artisan technique from Mexico. Here we will know the process of creating these pieces, appreciated for their elegance and unique finish.
We will learn about the ancestral techniques used, including the use of pre-Hispanic environment, y descubriremos el significado cultural, los rituales y las creencias que rodean esta tradición transmitida de generación en generación.
